How to Apply for Jobs Online in Pakistan
Applying online is the fastest way to find work in Pakistan — if you do it right. Here is the complete process, step by step.
Step 1: Use trusted sources
Start with established job portals and the careers pages of companies you admire. Portals like PakJobs collect listings from verified sources in one place, so you can search across cities and categories without hopping between ten websites. Always prefer listings that link to an original advertisement you can verify.
Step 2: Read the ad carefully
Before applying, check four things: the job title and duties (does it match your skills?), the location (which city — and is it on-site, hybrid, or remote?), the requirements (education, experience, skills), and the deadline. Applying to jobs you are clearly unqualified for wastes your time and the employer's.
Step 3: Tailor your CV for each application
Do not send the same generic CV everywhere. Mirror the ad's keywords: if it asks for "digital marketing" and "SEO", those exact words should appear in your CV — but only if you genuinely have those skills. One page is ideal for fresh graduates; two pages maximum for experienced candidates. See our CV tips guide for the full breakdown.
Step 4: Write a short, specific cover message
Most online applications in Pakistan accept a brief message or email body with your CV. Keep it to 4–5 lines: who you are, the role you are applying for, your one strongest relevant qualification, and a polite closing. Never write "please find attached" with no context.
Step 5: Apply on the original ad
On PakJobs, the Apply Now button takes you to the original advertisement. Complete the application there — on the employer's own form or email — and follow their instructions exactly. If they ask for a specific subject line, use it.
Step 6: Track and follow up
Keep a simple list: company, role, date applied. If you have had no response after 10–14 days, one polite follow-up email is acceptable. Then move on — silence usually means the position was filled or you were not shortlisted, and that is normal.
How to spot fake job ads
- They ask for money. Registration fees, training fees, "refundable deposits" — all scams. Real employers never charge candidates.
- Too good to be true. "Earn Rs. 150,000 from home, no experience needed" is not a job, it is bait.
- No company identity. Vague company names, free email addresses (gmail/yahoo) for "HR departments", no physical address or website.
- Pressure tactics. "Apply in the next 2 hours or lose the chance" — legitimate hiring does not work like this.
- They ask for sensitive data upfront. CNIC copies, bank details, or OTPs before any interview are red flags.
When in doubt, search the company name plus the word "scam" or "fraud" before sharing anything.
Quick checklist before you hit send
- CV attached as PDF (not Word, not a photo of a printed CV)
- File named clearly: YourName_CV.pdf
- Message is specific to this role, not copy-pasted
- You meet most of the listed requirements
- The ad is from a verifiable source
